Tritites

For a long time they were a race unknown to science, an inorganic form of life. Today they are the only inhabitants of open space. Tritites can intercept ships exiting hyperspace. They feed on radiation emitted by stars and especially by supernova explosions. Attacks on peaceful ships long remained unexplained, but after the first Tritite was captured it became clear that radiation from the internal reactor attracts them. Since the creatures have no intelligence and in developmental terms are closer to single-celled organisms, their presence in inhabited worlds is highly undesirable, and the nature of their behavior is regarded as parasitic. Destruction or capture of Tritites is encouraged by the Confederation. After capture it is possible to obtain Tritium, which is used in the hyper intercept device.

This type of Tritite is the weakest member of the race, but even it can destroy an intercepted transport ship.
