A real-time space strategy
Welcome to the universe of Noon of the 21st Century.
Noon of the 21st Century is an alternate history in which humanity begins to colonize nearby space at the start of the third millennium. You are one of those colonists.
You do not buy or download a client: open a browser, register, and fly. Before you set out, here is what waits in deep space.
You are not locked into a single role. You can be a settler hunting artifacts of lost civilizations, a researcher, a trader living on price differences between planets, or a pirate who outfits a ship for destruction. Any path can lead to fame — if you play it well.
There is no race or class that decides your life. You choose whether to search for traces of the Wanderers, study the origin of the Tritites, or invent technologies of your own.
Your journey starts when you wake from anabiosis. The flight took so long, by Earth’s measure, that academy knowledge returns only gradually. What you remember and what you forget is up to you.
Space combat is real-time. You can board an enemy ship and, if you win, loot the holds. Pirates board more easily. Even a tiny vessel, handled well, can take a clumsy cruiser.
You will also find abandoned ships. Why the crew died is unknown. The wreck can still be towed to the nearest spaceport.
Colonies need industry: factories, plants, and other buildings that support your power in nearby space. A swarm of nanobots is at your service.
Laboratories study alien artifacts and wreck fragments. That research unlocks better ships, weapons, and colony buildings.
Along trade routes and in the ruins of lost civilizations you may meet the Tritites — beings that travel intergalactic space without ships. They are aggressive enough to destroy a small merchant convoy. A prudent trader escorts wealth with warships.
Noon of the 21st Century is a browser MMORTS: register, and the 21st-century frontier is open.
