Plasma howitzer

A short-barreled plasma gun developed from the Flow plasma thruster. The barrel is shortened and widened so the plasma clump is thrown on a steep trajectory: the weapon fires in an arc rather than along the line of sight, which is useful against large ships and orbital targets. It is substantially lighter than the plasmothron, so it is fitted to assault ships and destroyer kits where the full main gun will not fit.

As with other plasma weapons, the shot carries enormous energy, but the clump is slow. Thermal load on the short barrel is high; a burst from one gun is practically impossible.
