Gluon reactor

This type of reactor can produce energy, and matter of an entirely different order. In essence, the energy is not even produced from matter as such, but from the structure of space itself in which the matter resides. Prolonged experiments have not yet yielded results: the reactor cannot be built larger, and more energy cannot be obtained, yet for its mass this is still the best reactor known to humanity. Given that it was installed on one of the first Stranger ships found, this is far from the peak of their civilization.
