Orbital nanobots

Tiny robots a few tens to hundreds of atoms in size. They are used in vacuum because they can weld any surface. Each nanobot has its own ion engine and a small thermonuclear reactor, and can act independently or in groups. Nanobots are used for precise fitting of devices, improving characteristics, and other work in open space. The devices are short-lived and cannot self-replicate, which allows them to be used even in enemy territory without the risk of the technology falling into enemy hands.
