Fuel and cargo bay

The bay is a structure of tanks and storage compartments. Its strength is enough to transport various substances without risk of destruction or spoilage. Fuel intakes connect directly to the bay, so fuel can be loaded into the engines as needed. Hydrogen is loaded as a liquid in a variable-volume chamber. Uranium is loaded as a fine dust of uranium and carbon. To start the nuclear reaction the mixture is heated to 12000 degrees and put under pressure, which forms a carbon crystal lattice whose forces initiate a slow-burning nuclear chain reaction.
